What should I do further to Revenu Québec's announcement to the effect that seniors aged 65 remain eligible for the age amount?

Quebec's Minister of Finance has announced that the age amount will remain accessible to seniors aged 65 for the 2016 taxation year.

Further to this announcement, we will make the necessary changes in the upcoming version of DT Max. In the meantime, Revenu Québec will still accept all tax returns.

For tax returns that have already been filed, you do not need to send a new one. Revenu Québec will correct income tax returns for taxpayers who are entitled to the age amount and adjust their refunds and balances owing as necessary.

To identify clients that could be affected by this change, you may consider creating a filter by following these steps:

  1. Go to the client list.

  2. Make sure that your client list is sorted by name by clicking on the column header Name. Please note that if your client list is sorted by family rather than by name, the filter will apply only to family heads.

  3. Click on the Tools menu > Filter the client list.

  4. Select one of the spare filters to customize it and click on "Edit filter".

  5. Give a name to the filter, e.g. "QC resident 65 years old in 2016".

  6. If you want to track only those clients whose tax returns have already been transmitted electronically, in the "Processing status of client" section, click the "Change processing status filters" button and check the box "EFILE acknowledgement received". Click the OK button. Then, select "Quebec TP1" from the drop-down menu for the line "These processing states apply to: ...".

  7. In the section "Client birthdays", enter the following dates: Between 01-01-1951 and 31-12-1951.

  8. In the section "Calculated tax data", enter the following code: (%Q03:299>0) %OR (%Q01:51>0)

  9. Click OK, and then click the button "Apply filter".

Please note that the filter could take some time to run if you have a voluminous database. Once the client list is filtered, please recalculate all the clients on this list, by choosing the option "Batch calculations" from the Tools menu. Note that batch calculations could take some time to run.

To deactivate the filter and show the list of all your clients, select "Do not filter" from the drop-down menu "Filter".
